Yoga Styles I Teach

Restorative

An opportunity to relax your body and mind, connect with your breath and allow some restoration into your life. All postures are supported as little as much as you require, with enough time in the posture to truly melt into the benefits. The class finishes with a yoga nidra.

Yin

A connection with the of the body, breath and mind facilitated by staying in the postures. It is believed that time in the postures allows the muscles, tendons and fascia to be stretched and  strengthened. The energy channels- Nadis given time “unkink” and our life force -prana flows through the nadis more freely, creating a feeling of emotional balance and body stretch. The attention is to finding an edge in the posture, stillness in the mind, a steady breath, whilst holding the posture for an appropriate time (3-5 minutes) . Finishing with a yoga nidra.

Hatha

A class that moves through a selection of postures moving dynamically to arrive in the posture, then staying for some breaths. In each posture we are looking for comfort -sthira and ease-sukham by connecting our breath with our movement, and as a way to find calm in our mental and physical bodies. The movement allows you to warm and open your body gradually over the class while you connect with your breath. Creating space in your body and mind allows you to work to a peak posture, and transition into a relaxation- savasana to finish the class.

Flow

A class that joins postures together in sequences that is slightly more dynamic. Movement is guided by a smooth breath so although heat builds in your body, and your heart rate rises, your practice is guided by your breath. Finishes with a yoga nidra.

Pranayama

A breath techniques to invigorate, relax, or balance our body and mind. All classes will have some kind of practice specifically woven into it to achieve the desired outcome of the class plan.
